Visiting the Abbey of Monte Cassino founded by Saint Benedict around 529 AD. The abbey suffered numerous destructions, most notably in World War II, which resulted in the complete destruction of the monastic complex. The structure standing today is a reconstruction built after 1944, using the original plans.
