Also at the Musée de Cluny are the “Heads of Kings” from Notre Dame, 28 statues of the biblical Kings of Judah that were decapitated during the French Revolution in 1793, mistaken for French monarchs. Their heads were lost for nearly 200 years until a major archaeological find in 1977, when hundreds of fragments, including 22 complete heads, were uncovered during renovations in a Paris courtyard.
