2019 Pacific Cruise

Next we drove through the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, often referred to as the “Punchbowl” due to its location within an extinct volcanic crater. The cemetery serves as a memorial to honor members of the United States Armed Forces who served and died in 20th-century wars, including World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The large staircase in the image leads to the Honolulu Memorial, which features the “Courts of the Missing” inscribed with the names of nearly 29,000 service members who were missing in action, lost, or buried at sea. It is the final resting place for almost 53,000 veterans and their eligible family members.
