A favorite part of the Victoria and Albert Museum are the Cast Courts where they have full-sized castings of items from all over the world. The columns in this picture are casts from columns in Rome and are so tall a special room was built for them. The idea of the casts originated back when people didn’t have the money or means to travel and see objects like these (they opened in 1873) so they sort of brought them to the people.
