The Florinsmarkt square in the Old Town of Koblenz. The prominent white building with red trim and clock tower is the Altes Kaufhaus (Old Department Store), built in the 15th century. The tower clock on the Altes Kaufhaus features the Augenroller (Eye Roller), a face installed in 1724 that rolls its eyes back and forth in time with the clock’s pendulum. The face is the legendary thief, Johann Lutter von Kobern, and is designed to stick out its tongue every hour and half-hour.
